Hi, my name is Hana and I’m a registered counsellor with the Australian Counselling Association specialising in Solution Focused and Narrative Therapies. I hold a master’s degree in counselling from the Queensland University of Technology, where the focus was the practice of social constructionist therapies. This involves an approach that values multiple perspectives, working collaboratively and positioning clients as experts in their own lives. I am passionate about holding a safe space where people can share th eir stories of their lives. I seek to reconnect people with their own knowledges and skills relevant in addressing what brought them into counselling. My approach is authentic, empathetic, and collaborative.

I have been working for NGO with young people in out of home care since 2015, across different roles over the years. I started as a case manager working with young children and their either kinship or foster families, then I have transitioned into care team leader position supporting young people with more complex needs within the residential care sector. Further, I was working in a counselling role supporting young people and their immediate/extended family members to promote further emotional exploration & healing, self – understanding, and growth. Bei ng able to work with families in child protection space influenced my professional framework and helped me deeply understand the importance of providing non – judgmental empathetic space for clients to reflect and explore their life choices, emotional experi ences and how to move forward positively in their life journey. Therefore, my preferred approach to therapy utilises systemic framework where child’s behaviours are explored by looking at larger systems that influence the child, such as school, family rela tionships, culture, or larger community members.

With older children and adolescents, I adopt a strength – based approach and mainly using therapeutic framework is based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy and Systemic Therapy
